In 2009 the Kaden home had three
flat panel solar collectors installed to heat water for:
- Domestic hot water
- Pool heating assist
- Space heating assist
Their solar thermal system is prioritized to provide direct hot water needs first, then pool and space heating with the residual heat.
The space heat is provided via a fan coil in the plenum of their furnace, reducing their requirement for inefficient electric heating. This mutiple arrangement maximizes the Kaden family's solar investment year round. |
