Wabash Valley Correctional Facility is the first prison in the mid-west to utilize solar hot water to augment their heavy domestic water demands. The system consists of 15 flat panels supplying water to 200 people. Solar hot water is a great application for facilities with high water demands such as athletic clubs, hospitals, and apartments. Prisons are making use of this renewable energy from New York to California. The correctional facility is looking forward to saving thousands of dollars every year on its water heating bills.
